New Gen of Breast Cancer Raises Cancer Risk to Women of European Descent

Women's lineage with the European nations have greater risk to be affected by breast cancer, after the researchers found a new type of cancer genes that can raise the risk of the disease, so a scientific report published on Friday (23/06/2009). The researchers said the genes were working simultaneously with the genes of breast cancer type 1, the BRCA1 breast and type 2, BRCA 2, which increase the risk of breast cancer affected up to 80%.

The research team, which came from Iceland Decodes Genetics said their findings provide evidence of the fact that close to that of women who have a number of genes that mutation from both breast cancer genes (BRCA1 and BRCA2) have a greater risk of breast cancer is contagious. Ginger new breast cancer is called BARD1, the team of scientists reported decodes the on-line journal Public Library of medical science.

Variant BARD1 work with the BRCA2 mutation showed the impact of the trend affected breast by 45% for women who only have the BRCA2 mutation genes are affected and the risk of breast cancer to 100% for women who also have variants of a new cancer genes BARD1," said the head of the research team Decodes, Karl Stefansson. And women who have BARD1 variants of the development of breast cancer tend to have tumors in both her breast, said Stefansson.
